Accounts & roles
Who can do what: owners, admins, assistants, custom roles, and how students differ from staff.
Every person is either STAFF of an academy or a STUDENT enrolled in one of its cohorts. The two are separate: staff sign in to the dashboard, students sign in to the portal on the academy's own subdomain.
Staff roles
| Role | What it can do |
|---|---|
| Owner | Everything, including billing and deleting the academy. There is exactly one, and only the owner can buy or change a subscription. |
| Admin | Everything except billing and deletion. |
| Assistant | Day-to-day teaching work — sessions, attendance, grading — without settings or student financial records. |
| Custom | A role you define permission by permission. Available on the Center plan only. |
Staff seats

Permissions are checked on the server for every action, not only hidden in the interface. A staff member without a permission cannot perform the action by calling it directly.
Students
- A student account is created when they enrol, or when you import them.
- One student account can be enrolled in several academies; they see each academy's portal separately.
- Students never see another student's grades, submissions, attendance or payments.
