Notifications

What triggers a notification, who receives it, and how push works.

Notifications appear in the bell inside the app, and — if the recipient allows it — as a push notification on their device. The bell is the record; push is a nudge on top of it.

Students are told when

  • A session, material, recording or checklist is added to their cohort.
  • A session moves or is cancelled.
  • A task is published, or its deadline changes.
  • A quiz is published, or its window changes.
  • Their work is graded, or they receive feedback.
  • A session is starting soon.

Staff are told when

  • A student registers for a cohort.
  • A submission arrives.
  • Session feedback is left.

Staff notifications go to the members whose role grants the relevant permission, so a notification about grading reaches whoever grades.

A notification is never the reason an action fails. If the notification cannot be delivered, the thing that triggered it still happened.
