Zoom & Google Meet
Connecting your Zoom or Google account, creating a session's meeting link, Google Meet recordings, and disconnecting.
LearnFeed can create the meeting for a class session for you, in your own Zoom or Google account, so you never have to open Zoom or Meet, make a meeting, and paste its link back. Each instructor connects their own account and is the host of the meetings they create.
Connect your account
- Open Account → Connected accounts in the dashboard and click Connect next to Zoom or Google Meet. You can also connect straight from a session: pick Zoom or Google Meet in its Meeting field and LearnFeed asks you to connect the first time.
- A Zoom or Google window opens. Sign in if asked, review the permissions, and click Allow. The window closes itself and your account shows as connected.
- Zoom: LearnFeed asks only to create meetings for you and to read your basic profile (your email, to show which account is connected).
- Google: LearnFeed asks only to create Google Meet meetings and to see your email address. The same permission lets it see the meetings it created for you — when they took place and their recordings' links — and nothing else. It cannot read your calendar, email, contacts, Drive files or any other meetings.
Create a session's meeting
- In a cohort's Sessions page, click New session (or Edit on an existing one).
- Set the session's Starts time, and optionally its Ends time — without an end, a class is two hours.
- In the Meeting field, choose Zoom or Google Meet. The meeting is created in your account straight away and its link appears in the field. Zoom meetings are scheduled at the session's time, so they also show up in your Zoom app.
- Click Save. Students see a Join button for the session in their portal; joining from there also marks them present.
- To use any other service, choose Add a link and paste its meeting link.
Moving a session to another time does not move the Zoom meeting that was already created — its link keeps working. Create a new meeting from the Meeting field if you want the times to match in your Zoom calendar.
Recordings from Google Meet
When a class with a Google Meet link LearnFeed created is recorded, LearnFeed attaches the recording to its session for you — no copying Drive links across.
Recording a Google Meet needs a paid Google Workspace plan (for example Business Standard or Education Plus) or a Google One plan that includes Meet recording. A free Gmail account cannot record Meet calls, so there is nothing to import.
- In the meeting, start recording from Meet's Activities → Recording menu, as usual. Meet saves the file in your Google Drive, in a folder called Meet Recordings.
- Within about an hour of the session's end time, LearnFeed finds the recording and attaches it to the session as a draft. Open the session page: it says the recording was found.
- Watch it, choose who can see it, and click Publish. Students cannot see it until you do.
- LearnFeed looks for a recording for 48 hours after the session ends. If you stopped and restarted the recording, every part is attached.
- It only works for sessions whose Google Meet link was created from LearnFeed, in the Meeting field. A Meet link you made elsewhere and pasted in is not imported — Google only lets LearnFeed see the meetings it created — so add that recording's link yourself.
Do this once in Google Drive: right-click the Meet Recordings folder → Share → General access → Anyone with the link → Viewer. The recording stays in your Drive, and without this students who press play see Google's "Request access" page instead of the video.
Zoom recordings are not imported automatically yet — add the recording link to the session yourself.
Disconnect
- In LearnFeed: Account → Connected accounts → Disconnect. LearnFeed deletes its stored access to your account immediately and tells Zoom or Google to revoke it.
- In Zoom: sign in to the Zoom App Marketplace, open Manage → Added Apps, and click Remove next to LearnFeed. LearnFeed is notified and deletes your stored connection.
- In Google: open your Google Account → Security → Your connections to third-party apps & services, choose LearnFeed and remove its access.
- Meetings you already created stay in your Zoom or Google account, and sessions keep their links.
Your data
LearnFeed stores only your account's email address and the access tokens that let it create meetings, encrypted. It uses them when you create a meeting and, for Google, to look up the recording of a class session after it ends — it can only see the meetings it created, reads only when that meeting took place and its recording's link, and saves only that link. It does not read your chats, contacts, calendar or Drive files, and it never downloads your recordings. See the privacy policy, section 8.
