Quizzes

Question types, the open window, drafts that survive a closed tab, practice retakes, and how grades are produced.

Questions

TypeHow it is marked
Multiple choiceAutomatically, against the answer key. One correct option per question.
WrittenBy you. The quiz is not fully graded until every written answer is marked.

The window

  • A quiz can open at a time and close at a time. A quiz with no closing time never closes.
  • Outside the window students cannot start or submit.
  • Changing the window notifies the students who were told about the quiz.

Answers in progress

A student's answers are saved as they go, so a closed tab, a flat battery or a dropped connection does not cost them the attempt. Drafts can only be written while the quiz is open — a draft saved after closing would be a way around the deadline.

Practice retakes

A student may retake a quiz for practice after their graded attempt. Practice attempts are stored separately from the graded one and can never become the grade — a single wrong filter somewhere would otherwise turn practice into a mark.

Results

  • You see each student's score and their answers.
  • You see a per-question breakdown — which questions the cohort got wrong, which is the fastest way to find what you need to reteach.
  • Students see their own result only.
